Magnetic Particle Reader

Bio-AMD’s planed Generic PoC Magnetic Particle Reader (MPR) is expected to have a significantly enhanced sensitivity based on magnetic nano-particle manipulation and detection, capable of interpreting results on a quantitative basis.

Bio-AMD’s novel design for a MPR PoC reader uses magnetism to read magnetically charged markers embedded onto the reader strip. Existing reader technologies lack the significantly higher degrees of precision required in the monitoring and treatment of certain conditions existing today, such as cancer and cardiac markers. The Bio-AMD MPR technology has considerable potential, opening up new diagnostic testing markets, where meaningful diagnosis can only be made if the degree of a condition can be measured accurately.

Our design represents an important breakthrough in the PoC industry by quantifying the intensity and behaviour of magnetic markers on the diagnostics strip. The ability to perform quantitative measurement in a PoC device is a critical milestone. It opens up the possibility of highly efficiently diagnosing and treating a whole new range of conditions; rapid and early screening of cardiac markers, cancer markers, infectious diseases and quantitative control of drug regimen.
